Julie is a Wideacre villager who becomes a child prostitute in order to survive.
She was born in the Wideacre village
and was named after Julia Lacey (Although prefers to be called Julie). She was one of a group of children who escaped from the village when the children were being rounded up and taken away to work in factories. She became a motherly figure in the group caring for the younger and sicker children as they travelled the countryside. The children arrived in the city of Bath, took up residence in a filthy back alley and found work where they could. At this point Julie turned to prostitution. The children stayed in this abject poverty until they were found by Julia Lacey.
While being escorted to her bath home by James, Julia identified a boy from the village. He took Julia and James back to the alley where the other village children are and Julia decides to help the children and take them back to Wideacre. All the children but Julie return to Wideacre. Julie, who is now bitter and jaded, decides that there is no place for her at Wideacre and she will stay in bath. She also reveals that James has been frequenting the red light district and sleeping with prostitutes. As Julia and the children return to Wideacre, Julie is left on her own in Bath. Her fate is unknown.
